Document Games
Below are a couple of websites that offer Games that are very useful for Dyslexics.
Document Books
Books are always a useful source of information. I have divided this section into Educational - i.e. about dyslexia, a section on books to help with Dyslexia and finally some useful sites offering reading books.
Document The Secret Life Of The Dyslexic Child
"This is an excellent book for both parent and teacher alike. I found it read well and flows easily and really puts you into "their world" (the dyslexic child). It gives you practical examples of situations which cause real problems for dyslexics, and will give you a new perspective on what it must feel like to live in this "secret worl" Highly recommend this book" If you get it and read it, please email me your thoughts" .
Document So You Think You Have Got Problems?
An absolute "must have" book for explaining sympathetically to your young child what Dyslexia is, and to make them feel ok about it' . It explains what is happening to them, and how they can be helped to overcome their problems.
Document Overcoming Dyslexia
Aimed at parents and teachers of dyslexic children, this book offers advice on how to identify, tackle and overcome the problem. Dyslexia is estimated to affect at least one in ten children, but it is widely understood and often mistaken for low intelligence or laziness
Document How To Detect & Manage Dyslexia

Document The Psychology of Dyslexia
A handbook for Teachers & Useful for parents. Written by Michael Thomson,MSc PhD CPsychol FIARLD AFBPSS (Principal, East Court School for Dyslexic Children, Ramsgate, and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Applied Child Psychology, University of Kent
Document How to Reach and Teach Children and Teens with Dyslexia
"This is a wonderful reference book for parents of children with dyslexia. It's the kind of book they've been asking for. I have been recommnending it to parents as well as teachers. The interviews with parents, students and adults with dyslexia are one of the strengths of this book. It makes the plight of dyslexic very real and gives the reader insight into their struggles. Parents can gain a sense of support and realize they are not alone in their efforts to help their child, and teachers are continually reminded of the profound effect their teaching style and their words have on students."--Heddy Christenson, Director, Eagle Mountain School.
Document Plees Help
Help book for Children with Dyslexia. When I read this booklet to my son (8 yrs) it was like a curtain being lifted for him "Yes that's just how I feel mum.
Document Fantastic Book Site For Reluctant Readers
This website was probably my saviour, as it was the one thing that got my son reading at the age of 12 for the first time! They have interest ages to capture the childs interest, with a reading age a lot lower. Eg an interest age of 8 - 12 years old with a reading age of 8. They cater from 8 to 18. My son liked the books because the covers looked adult like and the stories were exciting but the writing was well spaced out, easy to read, and the books were not too long.
